Why is blood donation so important?
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and a single donation can save up to three lives. Blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic illnesses, and emergency care. For individuals living with sickle cell disease—a condition that disproportionately affects African Americans—regular blood transfusions can be a vital part of their treatment, improving their quality of life and reducing complications.
By volunteering at the blood drive, our chapter reaffirmed our commitment to serving our community and addressing health disparities that impact Black and Brown communities the most. Blood donations not only save lives but also bring hope to families and patients in need.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated blood and to Channel 7 ABC for hosting such an impactful event. Together, we’re making a difference and honoring our sorority’s mission of service, sisterhood, and support for those in need.
